In an experiment conducted at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, those who didn’t have physical contact with their lovers experienced a quicker heart rate of at least 10 beats every minute. This is in contrast to those participants who were able to embrace their partners, so their heart rate measure five beats per minute.
- Hugging also promotes the production of dopamine. Everything that you do affects the flow of dopamine, which is why many drugs are created to protect it. However, when the problems are not solved in the dopamine flow, it is possible for you to become seriously depressed. Without proper production of dopamine, individuals will develop some form of mental illness.
